LISTEN TO THE TWO GREATS: ALAN WATTS & ECKHART TOLLE ON A STATE OF ONENESS

In this YouTube video, Alan Watts (my spirit guide), and Eckhart Tolle, discuss the process and incredible benefits of being able to attain a state of  inner peace through various ancient teachings. - (Of note, as Eckhart points out, all these wonderful teachings use different words and terms).

Alan refers to key elements of oriental philosophy, namely:

  • A form of Chinese Buddhism (a unique type of Mahayana Buddhism that integrates Indian Buddhist teachings with Chinese culture, including elements of Confucianism and Taoism. It developed its own unique schools such as Chan (Zen), and practices frequently involve meditation)
  • A form of Japanese Buddhism (which is also a unique type of Mahayana Buddhism that integrates Japanese culture, including Shintoism, but in this case, unlike the Chinese, it stresses the value of intuition and meditation rather than the study of scriptures or ritual worship)
  • Dhyana, the Indian Sanskrit term for contemplation or meditation that allows the participant to achieve mental discipline; and just as with the two aforementioned types of Buddhism, it is also possible for the individual to attain a more effortless sphere of "being," as characterized by a sense of oneness and unity with source/the collective consciousness/ the universe

Further, Eckhart touches on the Buddhist term, Shunyata (meaning emotions). And as he notes, the aforementioned is "the essence of who we are," and the essence of the universe itself [1].  Moreover, Alan states that the key element of these practices entails the participant "expressing a way of FEELING" [1], as opposed to actively thinking (that is to say, focusing one's mind on certain ideas) [1].

Henceforth, it is this "empty space or void" in our minds that empower us with Spiritual freedom.  (Or for those who do not resonate with this term, one can say, that we attain psychological freedom).

There is a great deal of valuable information imparted by these two great thinkers, and Alan Watts (who passed  in 1973), continues to help inspire and uplift countless millions of people through his many wonderful talks and lectures, courtesy of his son, Mark Watts, who is dedicated to the curation and preservation of his legacy.
